Royal Queen Covers Up

Avalanche Releases “pin-up” and “safe” versions of Queen of the Celts

(Birmingham AL, October 31, 2007) Avalanche Press will begin shipping two cover versions of their much-awaited Rome at War: Queen of the Celts at the end of this week. Customers get their choice of the “safe” cover (APL0110) and a dangerously seductive “pin-up” cover (APL0110A) created by renowned Heavy Metal artist Lorenzo Sperlonga. The cover art for the “safe” version can be viewed at www.avalanchepress.com/qcsafe, and the pin-up cover can be seen at www.avalanchepress.com/qcpinup.

“You’d be amazed at some of the comments we have gotten,” joked Avalanche CEO Mike Bennighof. “My favorite was a complaint that breast implants aren’t historically accurate.” Lys Fulda, Avalanche Press vice president quipped: “The pin-up cover is gorgeous, but it’s just not something ever retailer can sell. I love it but, yes, my first reaction to it was envisioning angry mobs with pitchforks standing outside the ma-and-pa game store.” An article detailing the creation of both covers can be found at www.avalanchepress.com/BoudiccaBabe.php.

Fans can order the product at their local game store and at www.avalanchepress.com. Preorders for customers will begin shipping at the end of next week.

Rome at War: Queen of the Celts is the third in the Avalanche Press Rome at War series. Rome at War: Hannibal at Bay and Rome of War: Fading Legions preceded it.

About Avalanche Press:

Founded in 1993, Avalanche Press started out in a garage in Alabama. Their goal was to bring the joy of wargaming to as many as they could, making ease of play a priority. After starting to win awards in 1998, they came to understand that the mix of history and gaming shouldn't be limited to stereotypical wargames. And so they expanded into family games, card games, role-playing and more. In the past 12 years, Avalanche has made a name for itself as the leader in mixing historical genres with quality game products and game play anyone can enjoy. Avalanche Press — "Walk With Heroes!"
