Operation Compass
Read While You Play
We've brought in some books on the campaigns covered by our
military history games. These are fine titles from our friends
at Osprey Publishing and other fine houses.
Pearl
Harbor 1941
This revised edition of the Osprey book, containing the latest
research on the events of December 7, 1941, reveals several
previously unknown aspects of the attack and dispels key myths
that have been built up around the fateful day. It's by Carl
Smith, a longtime Friend of Avalanche Press, and includes a
CD of movie clips and battle charts.
Guadalcanal 1942
On what was a virtually unheard of Pacific island, the United States shattered
the myth of Japanese invincibility. In the first American amphibious assault
of the Second World War, the US Marines and Army halted the apparently irresistible
Japanese advance in its tracks.
Operation Compass 1940
Operation Compass was originally envisaged as a spoiling attack, combined with
a reconnaissance in force to disrupt the Italian forces that had advanced into
Egypt in September 1940. Lt. Gen. Richard O'Connor launched what amounted to
a British "Blitzkrieg."
Rising Sun Victorious
Every wargame becomes alternate history the moment the first piece is moved.
Here's a sideways look at World War II in the Pacific, examining how the Japanese
could have won.
