On the last day of May 1916, the British Grand Fleet met the German High Seas Fleet off the coast of Denmark, in what would be the largest battle ever fought between dreadnought battleships.

Great War at Sea: Jutland 1916 is focused on this battle. The 22 scenarios take you through the plans of both sides, each stage of the battle, and its aftermath. The scenarios are interwoven with historical text that let you play through the battle or pick up the action at any of its key points to see how you would have done better. This is a unique blend of history and game-play; there is nothing else out there quite like it.

The game’s divided into seven chapters, with each part of the story followed by scenarios based on the action. Operational scenarios take place on the map of the North Sea, where fleets move and try to find one another. When they make contact, the action moves to the Naval Tactical Map. That’s also where the battle scenarios take place, which just show the fleets fighting one another.

Jutland 1916 includes a large, brand-new operational map showing the North Sea and the waters west of Britain, and 700 new pieces, die-cut and silky-smooth (420 of those are double-sized ship pieces). Everything you need to play, except dice, is right there in the package. This game is packaged in Playbook format; it does not include a box.
