When we published the first edition of Defiant Russia back in 2003, the game marked a new direction for us: a line of small, inexpensive and easy to play games that we marketed as “Quick Play Games.” Our marketing director at the time believed that we could reach a wider audience with these games, capitalizing on the success we’d had in role-playing supplements. And for a while she was right; Defiant Russia sold very, very well. But soon the games market spotted something else bright and shiny and moved on, and we eventually abandoned the concept.
To fit in its small box, the original Defiant Russia had a small map. Our new edition has more of everything: more scenarios, more pieces, more map. And does it ever have more map: all the way from Berlin to Samara, from Petrozavodsk to Zonguldak. It’s a beautiful piece by Guy Riessen. Here’s a preview.
